I hate hospitals. Yet, I always seem to end up in them when I least expect it.

“Freeze. Raise your hands and get on your knees!” I scream and jump, my hands shooting into the air.
I resurface to consciousness with a gasp. The sound of footsteps pound away from the room, and Gus’s groans knock me into battle mode.
“Level One?” Ken asks, throwing a look at me. He’s pulling on his pants as I try to release myself from the tangle of sheets.
The door to my room opens, and Ken enters carrying two glasses of water. He takes one look at me folding my clothes and frowns.
“Your new man is quite the catch.” Skylar tosses a smile at me over her shoulder as I join her on the bridge.
I lock the door to my room, and I don’t come out. I don’t come out for breakfast or lunch.
“I told Mat you couldn’t be trusted, but he didn’t listen to me. But then again, he’s never really known what’s at stake here.” Peter edges into the room, closing the door behind him.
