I leave the cold storage and hustle to the locker room farther down the hall. This room also opens with a hand scanner, so I lay my palm on it and hope to the heavens that Carlos and Yan’s database magic continues to work well.
“How am I going to first pretend I’m a chef and then turn around and impersonate a botanist too? What if I run into the same people in both the cafeteria kitchen and the labs?”
Warmth on my shoulder sends a shock down my back, but I’m unable to flinch away. Life is dark and swimming, a long, black tunnel, stretching off into nothing.
