A ship hijacked. An arrogant and handsome classmate. A relentless desert.

A ship hijacked. An arrogant and handsome classmate. A relentless desert.

Skylar Kawabata is so close to earning her Class Three pilot’s license, she can almost taste it. After years of intense study and isolation, she’s determined to ace her final exam and reclaim her freedom. Nothing is going to stop her now — not even Kalvin, the class pretty boy high flyer who never misses a chance to call her “Princess.” Skylar’s fierce determination clashes with Kalvin’s cocky self-assurance, creating sparks that are impossible to ignore. She’s going to kill him if he calls her that one more time…

But when their class ship is hijacked during the final exam, Skylar and Kalvin find themselves marooned in the heart of an unforgiving desert. With limited supplies and no way to call for help, they must rely on each other to survive. Skylar’s resourcefulness and Kalvin’s surprising resilience are put to the ultimate test as they navigate treacherous sandstorms, tricky quicksand, and the looming threat of deadly predators. As the days stretch into a grueling ordeal, their animosity begins to transform into a reluctant partnership — and maybe something more.

Will Skylar and Kalvin make it out of the relentless desert in one piece? Or will their fiery tempers lead them to destroy each other before the desert claims them?

An Unforgiving Desert is the first book in the Amagi science fiction romance series. If you like talented heroines, cocky, self-assured men, and a hot desert gamble, then you’ll devour S. J. Pajonas’s gutsy action-adventure. Be sure to read An Unexpected Debt after!

July 2024 Update – This book was originally a prequel novella. It has been updated and expanded to make it the first book of the series.
