I don't want to put the cart before the horse or anything, especially since I already declared a lot of my goals for the year. But let's get into a few of the decisions I've made in conjunction with my goals. I'll keep this short.
Things I'm Keeping
I will continue uploading my books to my website for everyone to read for free. I'm very happy with the response so far and the data I'm gathering. I feel like this is becoming more of a community of readers than it has been in the past, and that makes me happy.
Things I'm Shifting
I will not be taking the time to make paperbacks this year. This part of the business continues to be the one that I struggle with. It takes time and a lot of effort to get my books into paperbacks, upload them, and fight with Amazon. Then I sell like 5 per year. It's just not worth it to me anymore.
I will not be taking the time to make audiobooks this year, either. Yes, I would make audiobooks as AI audio because that's what I can afford to do, but even that? Meh. Don't get me wrong. I listen to audio (and AI audio) all the time and love it. But again, I don't have the time to work on this this year. I will reassess in September but no promises. In the meantime, my books are available on ElevenReader! You can listen to them there.
I will be publishing my books on Nook and Apple and into more libraries! I have decided to return to a few stores this year and more libraries as a way to make up for not making paperbacks. The process of getting the books onto more stores has started, and I hope to be done with the task by mid-February.
Things I'm Contemplating/Working On
I'm considering cover rebrands this year for my Nogiku Series, Hikoboshi Series, and Flyght Series. If I decide to do this, it'll happen in summer, which is usually a time of year when I want to sit down to bigger projects like that.
I'm brainstorming up a trilogy series that takes place on Orihimé after the end of the Nogiku Series. It will be Sanaa's oldest son's story. I got inspired while rereading the Nogiku Series over the holidays!
I'm also actively writing the next book in the Amagi Series and my aim is to publish it this year. Skylar's story continues!
I’m also considering translations into French and German for most of my books. If I can get my software up and running soon!
So, yeah, that's it from me for now. This Sunday I turn 50! And I'm going to take the weekend off. Take care, everyone!
