The Yearly NaNoWriMo Decision

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I’ve participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month in November) many times in the last 8-9 years I’ve been writing.

I really do love NaNoWriMo. The energy in the writing community is always lively and inspiring. I’ve written some of my best work during NaNoWriMos of past, even when I was traveling to visit my parents or trying to get through a sleep-inducing Thanksgiving dinner so I could return home and get my words in.

NaNoWriMo is not just for amateurs. It's for everyone who wants a little more energy going into the end of the year. It's a great boost to finish off any lingering deadlines before the end of December. I really love it.

But since I started really writing full time, it’s been harder to plan my projects around and with NaNoWriMo. Last year, I had just finished writing a book when NaNoWriMo came around and I needed a break. This year, I have two books planned that will straddle November. I plan to finish Flyght Book 5 in mid-November, take 2-3 days off to plot Book 6 and then go straight into that, finishing in the first week of January. I have LOTS OF WORDS planned for the end of this year! I have the momentum, so I need to cash in on it.

It is possible I’ll write 50,000 words, though, during the month of November! I’ll keep track and see if I meet the criteria for “winning” NaNoWriMo. We shall see. What's important, though, is that I get the book I need to write done

So now you know what I’ll be up to the next few months and through the holidays. Will I NaNoWriMo or NaNoWriNO? I’ll keep you posted!
