The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
I'm back from vacation! We had a wonderful time away with family and friends, did a whole bunch of stuff, and rested as well. Sometimes you just need to be away to reset.
Major highlights include…
I finished writing Flyght Book 3! I'm so excited that this book is done, and I'm definitely ready to move straight onto Book 4. I start writing again tomorrow.
My husband and I spent a night alone in Charleston as a special treat. We stayed at The Market Pavilion hotel for one night and went out to dinner at High Cotton, a well-known restaurant for awesome, upscale Southern food. It was such a great time!
We went to the beach A LOT. Like almost every day. We made it our mission to go in the morning and get lunch in town, and we did that! It was great to be in the water almost every day, though two mornings we got kicked out of the water by thunderstorms.
I spent a lot of time reading and relaxing. Though I did walk and climb a lot of stairs and swim, I still managed to get in a lot of reading and knitting. Ahhhhh.
We ate a lot of amazing food. Lots of sea food and fresh ingredients. Mmmmm.
Let's get to the photos!
First, the animals. Sara, the cat, usually ignores me when we visit my parents but this time she slept on my lap a few times! I love that she sleeps curled up with her chin on her tail. Plus, Cookie, the dog, enjoyed having more people in the house. And there are all these tiny lizards and frogs all over the place! This frog was on the outside of my parents' glass door, hunting down moths and other bugs.
Dinner at Hyman's in Charleston is always a must. Just say yes to the fried green tomatoes over grits. And my daughter had shrimp and waffles for dinner. Why not? We were on vacation!
We always try to go to Crab Shack in Folly Beach while we're there. Snow crab legs!
And dinner at High Cotton was fabulous. I had a strawberry and beet salad (not pictured) and grilled lobster tail with creamed corn and pea shoots. For dessert, a chocolate caramel torte with salted caramel ice cream. OMG. So good.
Time at the beach is never a waste.
The view from the rooftop bar at the Market Pavilion hotel in Charleston.
I visited with my friend and fellow author, Sarra Cannon. It's always a pleasure meeting up with her to talk about life and writing.
My mother is growing some lovely looking flowers in her garden. I love this water lily. So pretty!
And finally, the end of Flight Book 3 came with much relief. I'm so glad I finished it! This is the first book I've written since breaking my leg. I now feel energized and ready to move onto the next book!
Have a great week everyone!
