I can hardly believe it's almost the end of October! Of course, my kids have been talking about Halloween now for MONTHS, so it's not like it snuck up on me or anything. Lol. After Halloween is over, they're not allowed to talk about Halloween again until June, at least. ;)
This was another busy week. My husband, once again, did a lot of traveling and late nights, so we were on our own for most of the week. I tried to get out and walk as much as possible but I had a few mornings with commitments I couldn't bypass. One morning, I had to be at my oldest daughter's school for a little band mini-concert before school started. Another morning, I had to be home to wait for a grocery delivery. Plus, we had some bad weather so I walked on the treadmill too.
In work news, I finished the second Hikoboshi book and got it off to ARC readers! Cover, blurb, and pre-order details will be on the blog tomorrow! I also spent all week updating the blurbs and book files of the Daydreamer series, and I even submitted it to Bookbub in the hopes of getting a featured deal. Fingers crossed on that one! My biggest news is that I'm in the process of discontinuing my newsletter and moving everyone over to the blog using MailPoet as my backend subscription service. More to come on that next week. Plus, I am mentally prepping for NaNoWriMo! Only a few more days until I'm knee-deep into a new book. I can't wait!
What else happened this week?
When I finish a book I usually go a little nuts with cleaning out and organizing my house. This week, I cleaned out the freezers (we have several) and also the pantry! This is a before and after photo, before on the left, after on the right.
Excitement up the street this week as they took down two HUGE trees on this property.
It's decorative gourd season!!
I've been growing out my gray hair, and I'm pleased with the early results.
Nothing like a 5th grade band concert at 7:45am.
I finally tried this mochi we bought earlier this year. They're like little bricks of glutinous rice and you can boil or toast them. I toasted one in the toaster oven and it puffed up like this! So cool! I looked up some recipes for toppings for them and I'm going to try them again this week.
My park is looking absolutely GORGEOUS this time of year. Do you see the tiny turtle sitting on the log in the bottom photo? Lol. Usually there are several huge turtles on the log, but this day, only one small one. So cute.
And finally, I'm wearing handknits again! It's nice to be able to wear the things I've made over the years.
Coming up this week on the blog: Hikoboshi 2 cover, blurb, and pre-order information on Monday, November Goals on Wednesday, Information about a Nogiku sale on Friday.
Your organized pantry looks great! And I love the gourd photo. Hope your kids have fun on Halloween!
They were so excited to go to bed so that it would be Halloween when they wake up. Lol.
Sounds like a busy week! Halloween isn’t as big here, but it’s always fun to hear how others celebrate it. I hope you had a great Halloween.
I am starting Hikoboshi 2 next week :). Just have to finish my current read and then I can start yours. Hopefully I can finish it just in time for release day.
I hope you get a Bookbub for the Daydreamer series. Fingers crossed.
I cleaned and defrosted my freezer as well that week. Your pantry looks so neat now! I like that before and after picture.
That mochi looks delicious! I never had mochi like that, although I’ve had mochi ice cream, which I love!
Your park sure looks pretty this time of the year! I hope this week was a good one too!
Well, Bookbub turned me down this month, so I’ll try again next month. And I’m churning along with Hikoboshi 3 now during NaNoWriMo, so no complaints there! My proofreading notes came back on Chaos in Kadoma Ward, so I’m going to add them in today and put the final up on Amazon. :)
