Wow. August is almost over, and now our week off is over too. Kinda hard to believe. :(
On Monday, we started off the week with an eclipse. It was all the rage here in the United States. I know plenty of people who traveled to see the eclipse and my parents were in the path of totality which was cool for them. We had about 75% coverage here so it was great to see the ambient light drop and the shadows change. The kids and I made two eclipse viewing boxes and we checked it many times throughout the day. Once we had our peak eclipse, I put the kids in the car and took them to the pool. It was a nice day.
On Tuesday, we packed up and went to the beach for the day. I stayed in the shade of the tent for most of the day, but I definitely went down to the water and got my feet wet. The kids had a great time up until the end when we were gross, hot, and there was sand in every bit of our clothes. We ate fried shrimp on the boardwalk, went on some rides, drove home, picked up our CSA veggies, and went to bed early.
On Wednesday, I had my usual chiropractor appointment, now with acupuncture. I came home a total noodle. On Thursday, I took the kids back to school shopping and my husband took them bowling in the afternoon.
On Friday, I had the day off. I went for a long walk in the park, and my husband took the kids to the zoo and to grocery shop.
On Saturday, our new mattress arrived! I finally replaced our 10+ year old mattress in the hopes I would be in less pain every night. Then in the afternoon, my youngest had a birthday party so we dropped her off and then me and the oldest child went to Panera together to have a snack and get stuff done our computers. I worked on ads while I had her answer discussion questions in Google Docs for the book she just read.
Today, we went to Long Island to visit family for my FIL's 75th birthday. We hit a crapload of traffic on the way there, which sucked, but then it was so nice hanging out there, eating, and talking with family. We only hit a small amount of traffic on the way home.
In work news, I finished my edits of Hikoboshi 2! And then I took the week off. I think I really needed the time off because every day I thought I would work, and then I didn't. But a week off is enough and I'm ready to get back to my books tomorrow. I need to read through the last chapter of Hikoboshi 2 one more time, and then I can get it off to readers. I also want to get back to writing Daydreamer 4!
What else happened this week?
Eclipse shadows were soooooo cool!
It was a beautiful day at the beach.
I've been knitting this week.
The cicadas are dropping which means it's the end of summer.
Me and the girl at Panera working.
And it was my FIL's 75th birthday!!
Coming up this week on the blog: September Goals!
Well is appears you had a fantastic week. Loved your photos!
My Sunday Post
Thank you! It WAS a good week and I’m glad we had some downtime before school starts next week.
I made a pinhole projector with a piece of paper but just ended up mostly looking at the tree leave shadows as well lol. It was very cool! And I too recently got a new mattress! It’s comfy and squishy lol. Is yours helping with the pain? Sounds like you had a great week :-)
I’m really happy with the new mattress so far. It’s helped with the constant pain and I’m definitely sleeping better.
The photos are wonderful – I do love your eclipse shadows:)). You certainly had a busy, family-centred week. Have you got a TENS machine? I was battling chronic pain with sciatica after a back injury for nearly 10 years – and my little £40 TENS machine has stopped it in its tracks, thus saving me a fortune in physio bills. Though I do also need to get a new mattress…
Sounds like you had a fun week! Glad to hear you got to see the eclipse, i saw everyone on social media talking about it, we didn’t have the eclipse here.
I hope the new matrass helps! It’s nice you had a week off, sometimes you just need to take a break from work. I am glad to hear you finished edits on Hikoboshi 2, I am looking forward to that book! I hope this week was a good one too!
