Sunday Update – January 24, 2016

Woke up this morning to about 30 inches of snow (almost a meter to all you international people) and now we have to shovel and snow blow it. I'm not looking forward to it! The Blizzard of 2016 rolled in on Friday night, it snowed all day yesterday, and stopped some time after sunset last night. God, I hate snow. I can handle winter, but snow is the absolute worst. I'd rather have rain. Clearly I live in the wrong part of the world! Lol.

This week started out with my 40th birthday, which feels like forever ago now. The birthday itself went well. Everyone was healthy and we had a nice day off because of Martin Luther King, Jr Day. I gave away a few hundred copies of MAMACHARI MATCHMAKER this week and I hope everyone loves that sweet little story. I went to the gym on both Tuesday and Friday! Plus I worked out on Wednesday morning while watching The Expanse (I'm really loving this show) and walked on the treadmill while dictating on Thursday, then walked on the treadmill yesterday while watching videos on YouTube. I'm doing good with my promise of being active 6 days a week.

This week I worked on some random things. I wrote an article on newsletter optimization for NINC (it'll be in their newsletter!), worked on alternate covers for my cozy mystery series, and applied for ads for a SUMMER HAIKUS sale next month. I opened the last short story I wrote and worked on it yesterday and I hope to work on it more today when I get in from snow removal. Also, brainstorming started today on a new cover for FACE TIME! Hopefully I'll have that within the next two weeks.

What else happened this week?

Birthday dinner. Yummy! #dailyphoto #365days #ig2016 #birthday #thisis40

Birthday dinner was super delicious with a lobster tail, mushroom risotto, and kale.

Omg I just fried catfish for the first time ever AND bonus points for not burning myself or the house down. #ig2016 #365days #dailyphoto #thisis40

I fried catfish for the first time and didn't burn the house down!

Our new kitchen design is coming along! The end of carpeting is in our future! #dailyphoto #365days #ig2016

We met with our kitchen designers and contractors on Wednesday night and got the ball rolling! Looks like they may start in March! EEEEEEEP! Super excited to get this under way. I think I'll be doing a little video series on it. We'll see.

New #lularoe leggings! These are a bit wild for me but I love them. #dailyphoto #365days #ig2016 #lularoeleggings #howiroe

I got some new leggings and they are super fun! This is one of a few pair I've managed to buy. Several more are coming in the mail over the next few weeks. I'm excited about adding them to my wardrobe.

Time for some salmon hot pot! #blizzard2016 #japanesefood

This is what we woke up to. That's the very top of the fire hydrant. Sigh. So much snow. #blizzard2016 #snow #dailyphoto #ig2016 #365days

This photo is of the fire hydrant that sits on our property. It's almost covered! We survived the Blizzard of 2016 with a Japanese salmon hot pot and now we have to go shovel snow. Brrr. I'm not looking forward to it.

If I don't make it back inside, send out the National Guard for me! Lol. See you later this week.

  1. A meter, wow that’s a lot of snow! I saw some pictures from people in the USA on facebook and it’s really a lot of snow. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten that much snow around here. It does look pretty though. Here it’s a bit chilly, but no snow.

I am glad to hear you had an awesome birthday and that’s great so many people grabbed their copy. I hope they all enjoy it and check out the other books in the series too.

I love the covers for your cozy mystery books and seeing those covers makes it feel even more real, I can’t wait to read them! Let me know once the Summer Haikus sale takes place and I’ll help spread the word. I love that book!

That’s exciting you’re getting a new kitchen. The kitchen plan looks good, with enough space and surface to cook. Those new leggins look so colourfull! They look great! Good luck with the snow shoveling and have a great week!

    1. So much snow! The school called and canceled classes for the kids tomorrow too, so I have one more snow day to deal with before we get back to business. But we’ve managed to clear out the driveway and the cars and my husband can go to work tomorrow.

I’m glad I have that private author group on FB so that I could run the cozy covers past you all! I’m glad you like them and it gives me even more motivation to move into revisions next week!

I can’t wait to get our kitchen remodeled! Just wait till you see our old kitchen. I plan to do a little video on the process, so you can all live it out with me. Aren’t you lucky? :)

  2. I’m not a fan of winter at all, but I always say that if it’s going to snow, I just want a blizzard – that way at least the kids can have fun with it. LOL! How exciting that you’re getting a new kitchen! That’s on my someday list – but we just finished the basement last year and it’s going to be awhile before we manage another big project. :-)
