Sunday Update – November 15, 2015

First off, a very happy birthday to Jiro, as November 15th is his fictional birthday. Lol. Love ya, Jiro. It's been quite a week. Looking back on it now, all the personal things about this week were pretty stellar. We arrived home from our vacation without incident and any real stress besides getting to the airport in Charleston during rush hour and a downpour. My husband worked from home on Tuesday and then was gone Thursday and most of Friday. I got a lot of writing done, and I passed the 50% mark on my new book. I went to the gym twice and got out for a walk on Saturday in a very sunny but very windy morning.

Everything online lately has sucked though. Between the stupid uproar over Starbucks cups and now the bombing and terrorist attacks in Paris, Facebook has become unbearable. My timeline has been filled with hatred and indignation. One person says “Pray for Paris,” another says “Don't pray for Paris, pray for the world,” and then another one is angry that more people aren't praying for those in Beirut or Syria, as if telling people how they should feel is going to help anything. I'VE HAD ENOUGH. It was already really bad with the US election coming up! So I'm taking a few days off from there, allowing people to calm down, and then I'll get back to business. I don't talk about my own politics there except to be vocal about gay rights, but I'm liberal and a Democrat, and I'm someone who just can't take all the hate. Sigh.

Today, I woke up exhausted because our power cut out for a few minutes around 6:30am and it woke me up when our fan went off. I never went back to sleep after that. So after being up a few hours, I actually went back bed and slept another 30 minutes. That was good! I needed a catch up. I then framed some prints for the bathroom and touched up the paint in there. Our bathroom renovation is finally done! I'll post pictures soon.

What else happened this week?

Listening to @thecreativepenn podcast on the plane from Charleston to JFK. Cool to hear about collaboration and how it worked for them.

Listened to podcasts on the way home from Charleston.

New research books for my upcoming brand-new series. #amwriting #NaNoWriMo #365days #ig2015

Doing research on the Japanese criminal justice and police system. I've learned some fascinating stuff!

Another paperback to add to my collection! The REVEALED proof looks amazing. On sale in one week! #bookstagram #books #ig2015 #365days #dailyphoto

The REVEALED proof came and the paperback is now for sale online! The ebook releases on Wednesday.

New #jamicure! This is one of the ombré wraps but you can barely tell because my nails are so short. I wish they had shorter nail versions. #jamberry #jamberrynails #ig2015 #365days #dailyphoto

I love my new pink nails. These were supposed to be ombre though and my nails are just too short to show off the fade transition to the lighter color. Oh well. They're still pretty.

Family Chinese dinner! Yum.

And we ordered Chinese food for dinner on Friday and had family dinner together, which was nice. We don't do that often because of my husband's work schedule. But it was able to happen this past week! And it was a lot of fun.

Now, it's time for lunch, a walk, and back to writing! You all have a wonderful week. I'll be back on Tuesday with another REVEALED teaser. Wednesday, REVEALED releases. Thursday, I hope to blog as well. We'll see!

  1. Happy birthday to Jiro! I didn’t realize today was his brithday! That’s fun you remember your characters birthdays. I am glad your vcation and travel back home went smoothly.

I know what you mean about facebook, my feed has been filled with Starbucks and now Paris as well. And sometimes I just want to take a break from all the drama and bad stuff happening. Hence why I never watch the news, it just makes me feel sad.

I have my review for Revealed scheduled on wednesday as I thought it would be fun to have that coincide with the release day. I moved the review I had originally scheduled for then back a week.

I like your pink nails, although that’s a shame the ombre doesn’t show as much. I almost wish I could lend you my nails for once as mine are probably long enough for that.

I hope you have a great week and good luck with the writing!

    1. I bet your nails would look lovely with the ombré! I really like to keep mine short so I’ll need to stick to the patterns or solid colors from now on.

Thanks for scheduling your review for the day Revealed goes live! I really appreciate that!

I’ll probably return to looking at my FB timeline later this week. I’m hoping by Wednesday things will be a little calmer. Right now I’m just chatting in the few FB groups I like and that’s it. It’s giving me more time for writing! :)

    1. I do unfollow a lot of people, but with events this big, I would literally have to mute my entire friend list. So instead, I’m taking a break from my timeline for a few days and will pop back in once things are settled down.
