Sunday Update – August 16, 2015

Our vacation is over and we're now safely back home! What a fantastic week away from the daily grind of life. I think this was one of our best vacations yet, and I'm sure it has everything to do with our kids getting older. Both were more flexible this vacation, in terms of willing to do or try new things, and they were easier to keep fed as well. We only had one hiccup when C had a fever for two days but she took Advil for it (a miracle in itself) and rested and was fine by mid-week. We played in the pool, went to the beach and amusement park, ate lots of great food, and slept in everyday.

I also had the chance to think long and hard about my career and what I want out of it. I even wrote my anniversary post which will go up on the blog in about a month (Sept 15th ish). I learned about new genres I want to write in and new outlining techniques I want to try. It was a great week for opening my mind.

What else happened this week…

This is vacation. #dailyphoto #ig2015 #365days

Sat on the beach without the kids while they made crafts in the hotel. Having alone time was awesome.

Storm off the coast. #beach #storm #summer

A major storm came in and was absolutely breathtaking.

#knitting and Empire Strikes Back. "I'd just as soon kiss a Wookie." #vacation

Husband and I watched Star Wars every night and I got a lot of knitting done.

I went back for more crab legs. I regret nothing.

I ate an obscene amount of food! All you can eat buffets are the norm there. I was so stuffed.

All alone and #amreading by the pool. The very definition of heaven. #365days #ig2015 #dailyphoto #summer #vacation

Most importantly, I read a lot on vacation! And not just fiction but plenty of non-fiction too.

Coming up this week: Book Chat and my announcement that I'm moving all my books to Amazon exclusively. See you soon!

  1. Sounds like you had a well deserved vacation! That’s good to hear it was one of your best vacations so far.

That reminds me I still need to write an anniversary post for Lola’s Blog Tours, but haven’t really found the inspiration to write anything and not sure whether I want to do a giveaway this year or not, as I always doubt their effectiveness and for authors I already have the free cover reveals.

I am looking forward to read your anniversary post! And excited to hear which new genres you’ll be writing in! No matter which genre you write, I’ll read it :)

Nice pictures this week! That picture of the storm is breathatking indeed! And yay for star wars! Although I still prefer the prequel movies. I am big fan of Annakin, love his character! I am currently watching The Clone Wars animated series which is great

    Have a great week!

    1. I grew up with the original Star Wars movies so I like them the best. It was nice to rewatch them and now I’m really looking forward to the new movie this fall!

I’ll tell you now what I’m thinking about writing. :) I’m going to try and write mysteries, namely cozy mysteries. I think it would be fun to do a mystery! I really love them and I’m planning to set mine in Japan, of course. We’ll see. I have a lot to learn about them (suspects, alibis, twists and turns) so I’m going to study up through the winter and hopefully start on something then.

Hmmm, I never thought about having a giveaway for my anniversary, but I think I’ll pass. Giveaways don’t seem to be working for me anyway.

It was such a great vacation. One of our best! I used to dread vacations with the kids, but it’s getting so much better. I’m looking forward to them now.

      1. I can imagine that it’s different growing up with the original star wars movies. I only watched the star wars movies for the first time a year or so ago and I watched the prequel movies first, so I think that’s also part why I like those more.

Oh a cozy mystery set in Japan I like the sound of that. I have a few free cozy mysteries on my ipad, but haven’t read them yet. It’s one of the genres I want to read more of. I like mysteries, but weirdly enough don’t read many of them.

I like giveaways, but sometimes really wonder about their effectiveness compared to the cost. I am just not sure if it’s worth doing one. So maybe I’ll just do an anniversary post without a giveaway.
