Sunday Update – February 8, 2015

Guys! I'm less than a week away from vacation! Woooooo! It's the only thing keeping me buoyed as I climb over snow drifts to get to my car each day. God, I hate snow with a passion. I barely remember this past week until I doubled my Vitamin D intake around Wednesday. I have hit the mid-winter blahs and it's been hard to motivate to get out of bed, the house, or do anything.

We had a snow day on Monday, again, with a ridiculous amount of snow and then ice. On Tuesday, I remember being very anxious and I couldn't pinpoint why. It was just out of control and my chest was so tight. So I gathered up my youngest child and went to the gym. I lifted weights until I felt better and that helped a lot. The week was busy with appointments and errands to run, but I still managed to exercise and get some revisions done. My husband was late on Tuesday, Wednesday, and and Thursday, so I was on my own a lot. Really, this vacation cannot come quick enough.

I'm nearing the end of my Nogiku Book 4 revisions! More on that below. And I've been thinking a lot about revisions on Tokyo Run. When we go on vacation later this week, I will be bringing my iPad mini and working on plotting out some short stories I've had in mind. I'm looking forward to brainstorming on the beach in the sun :)

Afternoon snack. #dailyphoto #ig2015 #365days

I eat a lot of popcorn. It's my favorite afternoon snack. I have this microwave popcorn bowl that works pretty well, and I make it fresh when I want it.

My little helper is getting so big! #dailyphoto #365days #ig2015

Grocery shopping is a great way to pass the time and keep my youngest busy :)

I got the cutest Zen pixie from my friend @PKHrezo! She will help inspire many stories. Thanks PK! #dailyphoto #ig2015 #365days

I got this super cute pixie from my friend, PK. I'm keeping her on the bookshelf near where I write so she can inspire me all the time.

At the tennis club. Just one of the many places I find time to work. #dailyphoto #ig2015 #365days

I got in as much writing and revising time as I could, even at the tennis club while my kids were taking lessons.

Sunday Word Count Check-in!

Expected Word Count (Feb 7): 57,000
Total Word Count (Feb 7): 57,019

This makes me laugh because last night I entered my words into my spreadsheet at it told me my word count was 56,999. I WAS ONE WORD SHORT! So I went in and added in twenty words to get me over. Lol. Some times you gotta do what you gotta do to hit the word count. Revisions on Book 4 of the Nogiku Series are going REALLY well. I added in a sub-plot I had been thinking about, which has fleshed out the story and tied up a hanging storyline with a character I had totally forgotten about. I suspect I may be done within a week. I WANT to be done in a week so I can send it off to my CPs and first readers before I go on vacation. I can't guarantee I'll be done, but I'll work hard to get there.

As for my word count goals, I expect to be very behind at the end of February. Now that I'm finishing up all of my current projects, I need to plot out some of my short stories and get to other revisions. I need to revise the Tokyo Run book and REVEALED (the whole thing, because I want to put it on sale as a whole novella). Plus I need to plot out the next Love in the Digital Age book. I don't expect too many new words being written until mid-March. That's okay. I'm really pleased with my progress, so it's not a big deal if I don't hit my word count goals. I actually have three books I want to plot out! Lots to do.

Goal this week: Finish editing Book 4 of the Nogiku Series and get it out in email to my peeps.

  1. I like winter, although I am always glad when it’s over as well. We didn’t got a lot of snow this year though. A few days snow and then the next day it was all gone. Where will you be going on vacation next week?

We have some bags of microwave popcorn left, as I don’t eat it a lot and prefer to bake cookies instead. Baking always helps unstress me, especially when I can kneed the dough with my hands. I made oatmeal cookies yesterday evening, yum!

And Nogiku book 4 can’t come soon enough for me. I can’t wait to read it! Happy to hear revisions are going well :). I am also curious about those short stories you mentioned, will they be standalones or connected to your series?

That Pixie you got from your writer friend looks adorable!

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your vacation next week!

    1. Lola, I have these ideas for standalone short stories that are vaguely scifi, maybe a little mystical? I can’t really describe them, but they won’t be connected to my series at all. These will be based on my question on my Page a while back about having conversations with inanimate objects :) We’ll see if I can pull them off!

I’m anxious to get Book 4 done and out there so hopefully the wait won’t be much longer :)

We’re going to Jamaica! I can’t wait for beaches and warm weather!

      1. Ah yes I remember that conversation on facebook, I wonder what you’re going to do with that idea. It sounds fun, but then again I will read everything you write ;).

Sounds like you could use that vacation and away from the snow. Enjoy the warm weather and relax!
